Industry 'works better together'
Published: 11/04/2008

That is the message from Malcolm Edwards, president of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA).
Writing in Broker, the quarterly publication from the British Insurance Broker's Association (BIBA), Mr Edwards said insurers would face another incident like last summer's floods at some point in the future.
Working together before and during such an event can ensure a positive outcome for all, he said.
"The strength and value of pre-incident relationships between adjusters, brokers and insurers cannot be emphasised enough," Mr Edwards added.
"Cooperation in loss prevention, the production and availability of self-help guides and a combined effort to manage customer expectations will deliver quick wins."
Last summer's floods cost more than £3 billion in insurance payouts.
