Summer will be 'typically British'
Published: 04/04/2008

The Met Office has revealed that its data suggests temperatures slightly above average.
Rainfall will be either average or a little higher, although there is a small chance of levels much higher than normal.
"Our long-range forecasts are proving useful to a range of people, such as emergency planners and the water industry, in order to help them plan ahead," said Rob Varley, government services director at the Met Office.
"They are not forecasts which can be used to plan a summer holiday or inform an outdoor event."
While the probability of particularly heavy rain is small, insurers will be keeping a close eye on the latest information over the coming weeks.
Last summer, heavy rain led to some of the worst flooding Britain has ever experienced.
Homes and businesses across the country were devastated, leaving insurers with a £3 billion bill.
