Insurance giant Allianz has announced a new appointment to head up its learning and development department.

Jost Wahlen, who was previously the director of workforce development at global railway engineering specialist, Bombardier Transportation, will take over the reins.

Based at the firm's headquarters in Guildford, he will oversee the graduate schemes, underwriting academy and the range of programmes supporting employee leadership and skills development.

Mr Wahlen said: "The level of professional skills and expertise is already very high in the company – I am planning to take these now a step further to support our future business success."
