Insurance broker WPS has decided to apply the science of insurance giant Allianz to its small business book.

In the three-year sole provider deal just announced, Allianz will underwrite risks within its Complete product range, which looks to provide commercial package solutions for contractors, office, retail small business and property owners.

It comes hard on the heels of other sole provider partnership deals Allianz has done with CBG Insurance, Higos, Mackay Corporate and Tett Hamilton.

Steve Harley, sales director at WPS, commenting on the link-up, told the Insurance Times magazine, that following an "extensive tender process", it was decided that Allianz Commercial was "clearly the company that stood out".

Small business development manager at Allianz, Graeme Durlacher, also speaking to the Times, said: "I am delighted that, once again, we have been selected as the most appropriate company to work in partnership with.

"This is a great achievement and it demonstrates the strength of our small business proposition and desire to be the most successful competitor in this market."

WPS was formed after Walker Persson and Partners and Spargo merged in 2000.
