India facing insurance staff shortage
Industry Insurance News - Published: 07/02/2008

Peter Dunphy, chief executive of recruitment consultants Darwin Rhodes Group, speaking at an Actuaries conference in Mumbai today, said that the loosening of regulations in India's insurance sector has created a jobs vacuum.
This, he told Post Magazine in an interview, needs to be filled by talented actuarial staff and other specialists.
He goes on to say that India's insurance industry had changed significantly in the past two years as more European and US insurance companies have become established in Mumbai and Delhi.
Mr Dunphy added: "Darwin Rhodes has seen triple figure growth in the Indian insurance sector and this growth trend looks set to continue with leading firms seeking senior level actuary, insurance and pension specialists."
Darwin Rhodes is one of the world's leading recruitment consultants and has been nominated every year from 2001 to 2007 in the UK Pensions Awards for 'Best Recruitment Consultancy' - it has been the outright winner on three occasions.
