Kurgo joins the Liberty fraternity
Paul Kurgo has quit Australian based insurer QBE to join Liberty International Underwriters (LIU).

He will head up the commercial UK and Ireland part of the European organisation, focusing mainly on managing the existing structure in Bristol, Manchester and Dublin.

Mr Kurgo will also spearhead the development of LIU's strategy to grow its commercial presence and profitability.

He said it was a good time to be joining Liberty as the business was "forging strong regional broker relationships".

Sean Rocks, chief executive of LIU in Europe, told the Post magazine: "We are committed to expanding our regional and commercial business.

"The appointment of Paul Kurgo, with his extensive experience in this area, recognises the different challenges this sector brings in comparison to the London market, and I am confident that his appointment will ensure we deliver on our regional commercial strategy."

LIU Europe is a trading name.

It is controlled by Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe Ltd - itself a wholly owned subsidiary of Liberty Mutual Group.
