Comparison sites warning by BIBA

In a statement, it says that although quotes may be cheaper the policy may not adequately cover their requirements.
Research it has undertaken reveals a worrying picture of consumer confusion when visiting the sites - only six per cent said they had the details of the insurance cover fully explained.
Eric Galbraith, BIBA chief executive, said current FSA rules were put in place before the large-scale expansion of aggregator sites and he thought it was time the regulator took another long hard look at the rules governing them to see that they were "appropriate".
"There are still too many people logging on, and making a decision solely based on the price of a policy, rather than the protections it offers them and potentially buying an inappropriate policy," he said.
He concluded by saying that BIBA would welcome a debate with price comparison websites and the FSA "to find a suitable solution to this problem".
