Car insurance claims can be bizarre

Car insurance claims can be bizarre
Car insurance claims can sometimes be quite bizarre.

That is the verdict of AA insurance after a study of some 180,000 claims it had received since 2007, revealed more than the bog-standard claim for damage or theft.

One of the weirder examples was an incident where a woman's car suffered serious damage when a bull crashed through a fence and on to her bonnet.

Another was the case of a man who found himself and his campervan submerged in the sea after falling asleep while admiring the scenery.

Claims can get quite fruity too, as was the case when one motorist's car was deluged with apples after a forklift truck lost its load.

Janet Pell, from AA, said: "It just goes to show, you need to ensure you’re covered for all eventualities, however far-fetched they might seem."

In a separate study, the AA revealed that the price of car insurance was rising.
