Manifesto commitments by BIBA
Published: 16/01/2008

Among the issues highlighted is the call for the government to take decisive action in setting up a single entity to co-ordinate flood defence work.
It is also firming up ideas on how best to evaluate premium levels payable for the over 60s given the improvements in health and life expectancy.
Other issues raised include ensuring individuals and businesses have access to professional advice to help them choose the most appropriate cover for their needs and achieving a level playing field for brokers across Europe.
There is also a commitment to make roads safer by educating drivers about the requirement for motor insurance.
Derek Thornton, chairman of BIBA, told the Insurance Times magazine: "The Manifesto 2008 is an important document showing that BIBA is serious in its intention to promote trust and credibility within our industry."
In related news, there now appears to be a consensus among industry analysts that the numbers of uninsured drivers have started to fall.
This would appear to be in part due due to a new database which can cross check registration plates with companies to see if the vehicle is insured.
