Thatcham announces new training centre
Crash-test training centre Thatcham has today announced plans to open its first regional training centre.

Specifically targeting vehicle damage assessment, the new facility will be based at the Motor Industry Research Association (MIRA) campus in Nuneaton.

John Moseley, Thatcham's chief operating officer, said: "With the Thatcham/BSI Kitemark scheme now highlighting the need for fully trained and competent technicians, the demands on our Training Centre are increasing daily.

"The new training centre will ensure that we can continue to provide the high level of service expected by our customers."

It will be staffed by a full-time team of workers in addition to the current trainers and administration staff based in Berkshire.

The motor insurance industry encouraged the opening of the new facility.

It recognises the importance of accurate estimating for both in-house engineers and mechanics alike.
