Batteries flattened

The figures show this is the main cause of cars breaking down in cold weather at 32 per cent.
The next biggest cause is cars turning over but not starting at 15 per cent.
Some of the common sense measures MORE TH>N suggests motorists take in the cold weather include, checking anti-freeze levels and carrying de-icer in case the locks freeze.
Also it is important to check tyre, battery and wiper blade condition and make sure all the lights are working.
It also advises double checking oil and fuel levels before setting off.
Mike Holliday-Williams, from MORE TH>N, said: "Often the combination of cold weather and leaving a car unused for a couple of days can be enough to cause problems.
"In especially poor conditions, dont drive unless absolutely necessary.
If the worse happens and your vehicle breaks down in an isolated area it is also worth having things like a warm blanket, torch, Wellington boots and shovel on board as well as an emergency breakdown telephone number to hand.
