Astrologers should 'pay less than footballers'

Car Insurance News - Published: 22/11/2007
Flash footballers should pay more in car insurance premiums than sensible heaven-gazing astrologers, a comparison website has concluded.

Monesupermarket.com has done a survey showing that footballers were the most likely to speed, with sales directors close behind.

Driving examiners, au pairs and astrologers were the least likely.

Richard Mason, director of insurance at monesupermarket.com, said: "Our research shows the fines associated with speeding have an effect, as those who can least afford to pay them are generally sticking to the speed limit far better."

He went on to say the insurance industry should review information regarding the applicant's career to set premiums at a more appropriate level.

"Astrologers, au pairs and driving examiners should be paying a lot less than footballers," he said.

The life assurance industry has for many years taken into account the applicant's career and it would appear car insurers are now seeing the logic of matching premiums to jobs.
