Mother Proof releases winter safety tips

Car Insurance News - Published: 26/10/2007
US group Mother Proof has released a guide for mothers who may have to cope with a roadside emergency this winter.

The group says that motorists should carry a variety of items in their vehicles at all times. The kit should include bottled water, non-perishable foods, a first-aid kit, blankets, and a flashlight.

"Every winter there's a tragic story on the news about someone getting lost or stuck in their vehicle for hours or even days," said Kristin Varela, chief mother at Mother Proof.

"While many people might scoff at the idea of using their car's precious cargo space for a roadside emergency kit, having one could save you a lot of hassle in the long run, and possibly even save your life."

Other items that could be useful include mobile phones, jumper cables, pen knives and road flares or a safety triangle.

Tire chains, winter boots, an ice scraper and a basic auto tool kit could also come in handy, says the mothers' group.
