Staffordshire police issue vehicle warning

Car Insurance News - Published: 18/10/2007
Police in Staffordshire are warning vehicle owners to keep their motors secure at all times, following a spate of break-ins across Stoke-on-Trent.

Recently, there was one spell when there were separate incidents of thefts from 13 vehicles reported over a 24-hour period - when usually you would expect no more than six or seven.

In one incident, opportunistic thieves made off with one man's Wellington boots, CDs and sports jacket from a parked Citroen Picasso. The goods were worth a combined total of £80 - and the man's car insurance premiums may also rise on the back of the theft.

The owner of the car left it insecure between the hours of 11pm on Tuesday October 16th and 8am on Wednesday October 17th - but this window of opportunity was large enough for the thieves to strike and make off with their plunder.
