Market town promotes scooter scheme

Car Insurance News - Published: 15/10/2007
The pretty market town of Louth in Lincolnshire is spearheading a new campaign aimed at getting youngsters to think safe when riding on their scooters.

The town's Neighbourhood Policing Team is implementing an informative three day training scheme for the local scooter riders. The Scheme has the full support and involvement of motorbike manufacturers Honda UK, which has its race team headquarters in Louth.

"An enormous amount of hard work has gone into setting up the initiative and it's being run pretty much on the good will of those organisations involved, for which we are truly grateful," Police community support officer Josh Hayward commented.

"What we're trying to do is prevent youngsters from going on and getting involved in road and vehicle-related anti-social activity and encourage more responsible behaviour. This is a tremendous opportunity for local young people to do something really productive this half term that could, one day, save a life."

The initiative kicks off on Monday 22 October 2007 and is open to boys and girls aged between 11 and 16 years.
