Car insurance saving tips released

Car Insurance News - Published: 04/10/2007
Following a spate of reports that have revealed the extent to which car insurance premiums have been steadily rising in recent years, Insurancewide.com has issued advice to motorists looking for cheaper car insurance.

James Harrison, chief executive of the insurance comparison site, advised drivers to compare quotes from a number of different car insurance companies, being sure to consider the quality of insurance – excess levels and policy exclusions – as well as the overall price.

He also noted that drivers can receive discounts from their insurance companies if they buy their policy online and drive carefully, avoiding making any claims so that they can build up a large no claims bonus. Keeping a car in a secure location, such as a garage, will also result in cheaper premiums, he explained.

Although it can be tempting to keep insurers in the dark about any license points or driving convictions, he also warned motorists to be honest both when applying for car insurance and once the policy is active. Insurers can refuse to settle claims if they learn that the information provided is not entirely accurate.

Despite the dangers of being caught, a survey from Confused.com last month revealed that as many as one in four drivers have failed to inform their insurance provider about motoring convictions or license points before their annual policy renewal , and risk invalidating their car insurance.ADNFCR-1058-ID-18305476-ADNFCR
