Prince of Wales lends backing to ClimateWise
Industry Insurance News - Published: 13/09/2007
The insurance industry's new initiative on climate change, which aims to encourage more eco-friendly behaviour from consumers, has been backed by the Prince of Wales.
ClimateWise has been developed by a panel of global insurers, reinsurers, brokers and Lloyd's of London. One of the central aims of the project is to implement measures that will allow companies and organisation throughout the world to add climate change into their operations.
The project's principles were written up after nine months intense activity by a working group formed of the Association of British Insurers and His Royal Highness's Business and the Environment Programme and Business in the Community.
"The ClimateWise principles are targeted on those areas of skill and expertise within the insurance sector and are the result of nearly a year's hard work," his royal highness, the Prince of Wales, commented.
"I hope and pray that they will be useful in encouraging both collective and individual action to tackle climate change and I do congratulate all those involved."
