Council implements remote working scheme
Published: 11/09/2007
East Dumbartonshire Council has installed an "innovative" new flexible working solution which allows employees to work from any location.
The council has rolled out an AppGate network access control solution, as part of a project designed by Security Integrators Global Secure Systems. It allows employees to work from any location, enabling remote access to applications such as email and file directories.
The AppGate system allows administrators to control which applications users access from any particular device. Service delivery for external suppliers and partners with controlled third-party access to designated areas of the network has also been improved.
"We chose the AppGate technology because of its superior performance as a secure remote access solution," Colin McLeod, ICT team leader for communications at East Dunbartonshire Council said.
"But we quickly discovered that it's got a wealth of features and functions. As a result we're now delivering significant service improvements and using the resources we've got more effectively. I'm delighted with our investment!"
