International health insurance 'valuable'
Published: 04/09/2007
International health insurance is a perceived as a vital commodity by members of the public, a new survey reveals.
A survey from MediCare International shows that 70 per cent of people say that international health insurance offers good value for money - while a whopping 95 per cent say that it is "vital" for their peace of mind.
"Our research shows that cover for chronic conditions is one of the most sought after policy features," David Pryor, senior executive director at the firm that carried out the research said.
"That's because many international healthcare policies will only cover costs while the client is hospitalised - as soon as the patient is released and the initial illness treated, cover against the cost of ongoing medication can cease.
"That's why cover for chronic costs has always been high on our list of priorities."
Consumers said that the things they look for in an international healthcare policy are no excess, full refund of costs and guaranteed renewal of the policy.
