Hull police arrest 63 in one week
Published: 28/08/2007
Hull's police force has announced that it has arrested 63 offenders in the first week of its new "cross-border" crack down on crime campaign.
The first week of the campaign saw detectives focus their efforts on "outstanding suspects" - with resources temporarily diverted from other departments to make sure that offenders, who otherwise might have remained at large, were brought in.
The vast majority were arrested on charges of burglary from dwellings, with several others standing accused of theft from vehicles.
"Officers in Hull have embarked upon Operation Impact in collaboration with colleagues from other divisions and forces. This is a long campaign to reduce crime throughout Hull and to support the efforts of the Yorkshire and Humber region in reducing crime throughout the area," Inspector Mark Dixon said.
"The extra activity of the operation compliments some of the excellent crime reduction and detection initiatives that are currently ongoing throughout the city.
"Crime will not be tolerated and we will do everything in our power to bring people to justice and help stop people becoming victims of crime."
