Camden council launches vehicle thief crackdown
Car Insurance News - Published: 24/08/2007
Camden Council has warned that vehicle thieves will have "nowhere to hide" over the coming two months, as it launches a joint operation with the police to catch car crime offenders.
The council and the police will act together in a partnership operation known as VehicleSafe, which targets known hotspots to catch thieves in the act.
"The council and police work all year round to catch vehicle crime offenders as well as giving out important advice and information to people on how to keep their vehicles safe," councillor Ben Rawlings, Camden Council's executive member for community safety, said.
"This focused two-month operation hopes to hit home the message even more strongly that Camden is a no go area for vehicle thieves."
Camden Council has released various "top tips" for motorists as part of the scheme. These include "removing valuables such as laptops and wallets from the vehicle, and cleaning off the sticky residue left by satellite navigation kits to prevent prying eyes detecting the valuable piece of equipment".
"Owners should make sure all windows including sunroofs are firmly shut," the council adds.
