Insurance claim made on bad haircut

Industry Insurance News - Published: 20/08/2007
Some of the more outlandish insurance claims to have been made in recent times include one on a bad haircut and one for harassment from monkey, a new study reveals.

The report, from a UK travel insurance provider, reveals some of the more bizarre claims it has received in recent years.

These include one from a man whose daughter singed her hair in their apartment's oven while on holiday. As a result, the daughter had to get a haircut, which then turned out badly. The man tried to claim for damages on his travel insurance, as the incident happened while he and his family were on holiday.

In another incident, the insurer prepared itself to receive a claim after it was reported that one of its policy holders lost his bag while on his travels. When the claim came through, however, the man was looking for recompense for a lost newspaper, a bottle of water and a packet of mints.
