Over 35s 'travel dreams'
Industry Insurance News - Published: 20/08/2007
A significant proportion of over 35-year-olds wish that they had travelled more in their youth, a new report reveals.
With travel insurance becoming more and more readily available, a new survey from Bradford and Bingley shows that thoughts of taking a career break and jetting off for foreign climes remain prominent in British over 35-year-olds' heads.
Over half of the people surveyed said that they wanted to travel more, with a further 21 per cent saying that they would like to work abroad.
And six per cent said that they wished that they had taken a gap year before settling down to concentrate on starting a family.
Additionally, around 25 per cent said that they would like to start their own business with 30 per cent claiming that they wanted to change their career.
"Over 35s need not despair as there is plenty of time for them to change their lives for the better! Putting money aside and making it work for them means it will be easier for them to realise their dreams," Paul Whitlock, head of savings at Bradford & Bingley, commented.
"By saving regularly or making the most of their finances by seeking professional advice there is no reason why people can't set up their own business, travel more or be prepared for that once in a lifetime opportunity that may arise."
