Do I get a courtesy car if my car is involved in an accident?
Yes, you will be provided with a courtesy car for the duration your vehicle is in for repair, as long as you take your vehicle to one of our approved repairers.

Am I able to drive abroad with my car on European Cover?
By taking out a policy with Cornhill Direct you are automatically covered to take your car to the countries listed below:

Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Please note that Cornhill Direct Rescue, Cornhill Direct Accident Recovery and Motor Legal Protection policies have different territorial limits to the main car policy and you will need to consider these limits. Terms and conditions apply.

What happens if I change my car in the middle of the year?
Please call our customer services team on 0800 50 60 70 and they will update your policy, providing your new vehicle fits our underwriting criteria.

Do I get a discount if I insure two cars with you?
Unfortunately not, there are no discounts for insuring a second vehicle, however, if you don’t have any NCD on your second vehicle and you are claim free we may be able to provide you with an introductory discount on your second vehicle. The level of this discount will depend on your personal circumstances. Terms and conditions apply.

What documents do I submit as proof of my NCD?
This should be on your renewal schedule from your previous insurer, alternatively, your previous insurer can send you a proof of no claims letter, the documents must be up to date and must also be the original.

Can I cancel my policy after taking it out and will I be charged?
The policy provides you with a 14-day reflection period to decide whether you wish to continue for the full policy year. This is subject to certain terms, including a minimum time on risk charge of £25. This period also applies folllowing any renewal. Full details are shown in the General Conditions of the full Policy Document, which is available via the menu.

After this 14-day reflection period you can cancel the policy by returning the Certificate of Motor Insurance to us. You will receive a proportionate refund of premium for the period of cover you have not used. If you choose to cancel in the first year the refund will be reduced by £50 to allow for costs in providing the policy. If you cancel after the first year the refund will be reduced by £25.

No refund will be provided if you cancel the policy following a claim, or an incident which may give rise to a claim.

No, it only covers the vehicle on the policy they are added to.

Can I decrease my excess to £0?
No, there is a compulsory excess of £150.

Can I have my Direct Debit payment coming out on a certain date each month?
You cannot specify a date. Your Direct Debit will always be due to come out on the same date as your policy inception start date. For example, if your policy inception date is the 12th February your subsequent Direct Debit payments will be taken from your account on the 12th of each month.
