MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa
To ensure the highest standard of online payment security, Cornhill Direct transactions are supported by MasterCard SecureCode (SecureCode) and Verified by Visa (Verified).
MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa are card-specific instances of a system called '3D Secure', which has been created by MasterCard in partnership with Visa. The system has been introduced to prevent the fraudulent misuse of credit cards in online payment transactions through the requirement of a password. Because the password is created by the cardholder - and is therefore only known by he or she - stolen or cloned credit cards cannot be used to purchase goods or services online where MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa are present. Where these security measures are available, a website should always display the SecureCode and Verified logos.
In order to use MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa your card must be registered. In many cases banks now issue cards that are pre-registered but, if you have an older card, you may find that it is not yet eligible. If this is the case, you will be alerted to the fact during the payment process and may need to contact your card issuer to register. If the card has been registered but not yet activated for use, please activate your card as directed during the payment process.
If you have previously paid for goods or services via websites offering MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa on more than one occasion, but have not yet activated your card, you may not be able to complete your transaction.
All the information you are requested to enter during the MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa part of the payment process is safe: any details you submit will be transmitted to your card issuer via a secure connection. No organisation, other than the authorising bank, will be privy to the information you provide. Cornhill Direct does not have access to any information completed in the MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa element of the payment process and cannot, therefore, record or store it in any way.
